Gianmarco Ferrari enters the Como Challenger qualifying draw as the clear favorite against fellow Italian Andrea Colombo, driven by his higher ranking near No. 512 and stronger overall career record of 208-177, including a 57% win rate on clay. The 25-year-old left-hander has shown solid recent form with five wins in his last ten matches across ITF and Challenger events, mostly on his preferred surface, while the 23-year-old Colombo sits much lower around No. 991–1052 and has compiled a mixed 2026 record split between hard courts and limited clay exposure. This marks their first meeting, with Ferrari benefiting from greater experience at this level and a higher percentage of success in pressure situations on clay. The match on Court 2 carries standard qualifying implications for main-draw entry, where any late fitness issues or surface-specific adjustments could still influence the outcome.
