Atlético Madrid’s slight edge in the 3rd-place market stems from pre-season reinforcements including Cristian Romero, Álex Grimaldo, Morten Hjulmand and Lee Kang-in, bolstering a squad already consistent in top-four finishes. Villarreal, Real Betis, Celta Vigo and others remain bunched because last season’s European qualifiers plus promoted sides like Racing Santander create broad parity across the mid-table. Early 2026-27 results show tight form across multiple clubs, while Barcelona and Real Madrid are projected to occupy the top two spots, leaving the Champions League third-place battle highly contested and dependent on squad depth, fixture congestion and late transfer resolutions such as Julián Álvarez’s situation.
