The 2026–27 Betway Premiership season is only weeks old, yet the fight for third place already reflects a wide-open field after Orlando Pirates claimed the 2025–26 title and ended Mamelodi Sundowns’ long dominance. Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their squad through targeted transfers and sit near the top early, while Sundowns regroup following key losses and a delayed preseason. Mid-table sides such as AmaZulu, Sekhukhune United, Lamontville Golden Arrows, and Polokwane City carry momentum from last season’s solid finishes, and newly promoted outfits like Milford and Kruger United introduce further variance. With a full campaign of 30 matches ahead, squad depth, CAF commitments, injuries, and home/away form will shape outcomes, leaving traders viewing third place as highly competitive among the established and emerging clubs.
