**The race for third place in the 2026 Virslīga remains tightly contested among several clubs due to Auda’s current buffer, the mid-table cluster’s inconsistency, and a balanced remaining schedule.** As of late August, RFS and Riga FC sit well clear at the top with 66 and 65 points after 26 matches, while Auda holds third on 52 points. BFC Daugavpils and FK Liepāja trail on 37 points each (after 27 games), with Super Nova, Jelgava, and others further back. Recent results underscore the volatility: Auda secured clean-sheet wins over Liepāja (1-0) and Tukums (3-0), Liepāja responded with victories including against Grobiņa, and the top two drew 3-3. Key factors include Auda’s solid form and home strength offsetting some squad absences, Riga’s injury concerns (notably long-term issues for Contreras and Birka), and the chasing sides’ ability to gain ground through favorable fixtures or momentum swings. With roughly ten rounds left in the four-round format, points swings from head-to-head clashes and variable results among the 4th–7th placed teams keep multiple outcomes viable in trader consensus.
