This market will resolve according to the change in the total nonfarm payroll employment reported by the BLS "Employment Situation Summary" for August 2026, scheduled to be released on September 4, 2026, at 8:30 AM ET. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If no data for the specified month is released by the date the next month's data is scheduled to be released, this market will resolve based on data from the last available month. The BLS "Employment Situation Summary" may be found here: https://www.bls.gov/bls/newsrels.htmRecent softening in U.S. labor market data, highlighted by the July nonfarm payrolls decline of 23,000 jobs amid downward revisions to prior months and private-sector gains limited to 30,000, drives the dispersed probabilities across August outcomes. Stable initial claims near 206,000 and an unemployment rate at 4.1% suggest resilience, while ADP's weekly private payroll averages around 11,750 jobs point to modest momentum. Elevated inflation has kept the Fed funds rate at 3.5-3.75%, shifting policy focus toward price stability and tempering expectations for robust hiring. This backdrop creates uncertainty ahead of the September release, with government employment volatility and sector trends like healthcare gains versus leisure weakness as key swing factors.
