**Persistent tensions rooted in the May 2025 Operation Sindoor continue to shape expectations around potential Indian military action against Pakistan.** Following the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, India conducted precision missile strikes on alleged militant infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during a brief four-day clash. New Delhi has since adopted a narrower deterrence-focused posture, limiting any future engagement to terrorism and PoK while suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and advancing river diversion projects. Pakistan has warned that water restrictions could constitute an act of war and has restructured its military command under Field Marshal Asim Munir. The Line of Control ceasefire has largely held with minimal violations since May 2025, though both sides exchange accusations over militant support, arrests of operatives, and narrative disputes. Recent disclosures on Sindoor targets and ongoing water rhetoric sustain trader focus on escalation risks, balanced against the absence of major new triggers or scheduled high-stakes events in the immediate term.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones, or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by Indian military forces that impact Pakistani territory (e.g., if an Indian missile or drone hits a target within Pakistan’s borders, this market will resolve to "Yes").
Missiles or drones that are intercepted before reaching Pakistani territory, as well as surface-to-air missile strikes, will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution regardless of whether debris lands on Pakistani soil or causes damage.
Actions such as artillery fire, small arms fire, FPV or ATGM strikes, ground incursions, naval shelling, cyberattacks, or any operation conducted by Indian ground forces will not qualify as a strike under this market.
The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
