This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026, according to the CDC case counter by August 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter 'Total Cases' in 2026 (see: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html) at the resolution time. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources.Ongoing measles transmission, fueled by declining MMR vaccination coverage (92.4% among kindergarteners) and 36 active outbreaks across 45 states plus DC, drives the elevated 2026 case total. As of the CDC’s August 20 update, 2,777 laboratory-confirmed cases have been reported—already exceeding 2025’s full-year high—with 94% occurring in unvaccinated or unknown-status individuals, 19% in children under 5, and 7% hospitalized. Pennsylvania and Ohio accounted for the largest recent weekly increases (211 new cases), while two measles-associated deaths were confirmed in unvaccinated Pennsylvania residents on August 25. With the August 31 resolution imminent, the next CDC surveillance update and any additional rash-onset reports from active clusters will determine whether the final tally crosses key thresholds.
