**Multiple teams remain tightly bunched in the mid-table chase behind runaway leaders FC Seoul, keeping the 2026 K League 1 runner-up market extremely competitive.** As of late August, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors sits second on 38 points, followed closely by Ulsan HD (37), Gangwon FC (36), Jeju SK (35), and Pohang Steelers (34), with Incheon United, FC Anyang, Daejeon Hana Citizen, and Bucheon FC 1995 all within a handful of points. Bucheon’s strong August run—including victories over Jeonbuk and Pohang—has lifted the promoted side into contention for the Championship round (Final A), while recent results such as Daejeon’s comeback win over Ulsan and Anyang’s response after a heavy defeat have underscored how quickly momentum shifts. Gimcheon Sangmu’s draw-heavy form adds further unpredictability. With roughly eight rounds before the split and points gaps minimal across the chasing group, the wisdom of crowds in the market reflects the genuine parity and lack of a clear second-place favorite.
