Recent cooling in Brazil’s IPCA inflation, with the July 2026 reading at 4.44% year-over-year and the mid-August IPCA-15 preview at 4.24%, has anchored trader sentiment for the 2026 annual rate near the 5.02% median from the latest Focus survey. Multiple consecutive Selic cuts to 14% and expectations of further easing reflect moderating price pressures in food, housing, and transport amid a first monthly decline in over a year. Persistent fiscal stimulus and resilient domestic demand continue to support the upper end of the 5.00–5.49% band as the leading outcome, while lower oil prices and growth forecast revisions temper upside risks. The next Central Bank meeting in mid-September remains a key near-term catalyst.
