Łukasz Gibała holds the strongest position among candidates in the snap Kraków mayoral election set for 27 September 2026, following the May recall of incumbent Aleksander Miszalski. Recent August polling from Opinia24 shows Gibała, running as an independent backed by the Kraków dla Mieszkańców association, at 25.2 percent support—nearly 10 points ahead of Monika Piątkowska, the joint candidate of the Civic Coalition and PSL. The crowded field of over twenty registered contenders, including Daria Gosek-Popiołek, Michał Drewnicki, and Aleksandra Owca, has fragmented opposition support and produced a large undecided bloc. Gibała’s consistent lead in successive surveys and prior citywide name recognition underpin trader consensus on his frontrunner status ahead of the first-round vote.
