This market will resolve to "Yes" if any player records more than 55 passing touchdowns during the 2026-27 NFL regular season, thereby breaking the NFL single-season passing touchdowns record. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The NFL single-season passing touchdowns record is 55, set by Peyton Manning in 2013. Matching the record exactly will not be sufficient; a player must exceed 55 passing touchdowns for this market to resolve to "Yes". Only regular season games count. Playoff games, including Wild Card, Divisional, Conference Championship, and Pro Football Championship games, do not count. A player's total is the total he records across all of his 2026-27 NFL regular season games, including games played for more than one team. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is shortened, truncated, or ends early for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available official data for completed games. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after January 26, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or it cannot be determined whether any player exceeded 55 passing touchdowns within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "50-50". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**The 50% implied probability on Yes reflects a closely balanced trader consensus around the extreme difficulty of surpassing Peyton Manning’s 55 passing touchdowns from 2013 in a 17-game schedule.** No quarterback has approached that mark in more than a decade; the 2025 high was Matthew Stafford’s 46, with the next-closest totals at 34 or fewer. Recent seasons have seen peaks of 50 (Mahomes 2018, Brady 2007), but sustained production at 3.3+ touchdowns per game remains exceptionally rare. Key factors creating competitive balance include the continued strength of several high-powered passing attacks entering 2026—particularly Cincinnati’s offense featuring Joe Burrow and elite weapons, plus the Rams, Cowboys, and Lions—alongside modest rule stability that still rewards volume passing. However, projections for the upcoming season place even the top projected leaders (Burrow, Stafford, Prescott) in the low-to-mid 30s, underscoring regression risk, defensive adjustments, and the challenge of maintaining peak efficiency across a full campaign. Developments that could shift the odds include a healthy Burrow or Stafford posting an outlier volume season with favorable red-zone opportunities, or unexpected rule tweaks or offensive-scheme evolutions that further inflate scoring. Conversely, stronger defensive trends, injuries to key passers or receivers, or a more run-heavy league emphasis would reinforce the historical barrier and push sentiment toward No. The market’s equilibrium captures both the modern passing era’s ceiling and the statistical outlier required to break the longstanding record.
