Recent U.S. sanctions targeting Iranian financial networks, shipping, and trade partners have intensified pressure on the rial, driving unofficial market rates to record levels near 2.02 million per dollar amid ongoing conflict and sharply reduced oil export revenues. Central bank interventions and domestic inflation above 60 percent continue to shape daily volatility, while expectations of possible sanctions relief or renewed diplomacy introduce offsetting uncertainty. The evenly distributed probabilities across rate bands reflect trader assessments that near-term outcomes hinge on whether sanctions enforcement escalates further, oil flows stabilize, or bilateral talks produce measurable easing before September ends.
