The 2026 NFL season opens with a rare Wednesday night Super Bowl rematch at Lumen Field, where the defending champion Seahawks host the Patriots they defeated 29-13 in Super Bowl LX just seven months earlier. Seattle enters as short favorites behind a stout defense under Mike Macdonald, though roster turnover includes the loss of RB Kenneth Walker III and coordinator Klint Kubiak, while New England added WR A.J. Brown and bolstered its offensive line. Key storylines for the NBC broadcast include the revenge narrative for QB Drake Maye, CB Christian Gonzalez’s contract situation and matchup against WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle’s pregame championship banner ceremony, and injury questions around players like Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson. Recent form, home-field energy, and the primetime setting shape the most likely announcer references.
