This market will resolve to "Yes" if Sanae Takaichi meets with Xi Jinping between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A meeting is defined as any encounter where both Takaichi and Jinping are present and interact with each other in person. An exchange of words, handshake, direct conversation, or other clear personal interaction between the named individuals will qualify as a meeting. Merely standing in proximity, making eye contact, or being present in the same room or event without direct interaction will not qualify. The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held their first bilateral summit on the sidelines of the October 2025 APEC meeting in South Korea, where they reaffirmed a “mutually beneficial strategic relationship” and agreed on the need for crisis-management channels despite ongoing disputes over maritime activities in the East China Sea, rare-earth export controls, and Taiwan-related tensions stemming from Takaichi’s earlier statements. Relations have remained strained into 2026, with recent Japanese parliamentary delegations visiting Beijing in August to explore de-escalation, while China has continued military signaling near disputed areas. The next major opportunity for a leader-level encounter lies in the November 2026 APEC summit hosted by China in Shenzhen, alongside any ad-hoc diplomatic openings. Trader assessments hinge on whether domestic political calendars, security incidents, or U.S. policy shifts create sufficient incentive for both sides to schedule a second meeting within the resolution window.
