This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump meets with Mark Carney between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A meeting is defined as any encounter where both Trump and Carney are present and interact with each other in person. An exchange of words, handshake, direct conversation, or other clear personal interaction between the named individuals will qualify as a meeting. Merely standing in proximity, making eye contact, or being present in the same room or event without direct interaction will not qualify. The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.Trade tensions between the United States and Canada have escalated sharply in recent weeks, with talks on tariffs and a potential update to the USMCA collapsing in late August 2026 after U.S. demands on autos, steel, agriculture, and digital content clashed with Canadian positions. Prime Minister Mark Carney, who has held informal discussions and phone calls with President Trump at the June 2026 G7 and earlier Oval Office meetings in 2025, suspended negotiations and signaled retaliation, while Trump criticized Canadian negotiators. These bilateral frictions, centered on tariff levels and economic security commitments, represent the main near-term variable for any scheduled in-person meeting. No formal bilateral sessions are confirmed in the immediate window, though diplomatic channels remain open amid ongoing retaliation threats and scheduled provincial briefings in Ottawa.
