Mercedes leads the 2026 Constructors’ Championship by 87 points after 12 races, driven by early-season dominance under the new power-unit regulations, multiple wins from Kimi Antonelli, and strong double-points finishes from the Antonelli-Russell pairing. The team’s consistent qualifying pace and reliability established a substantial buffer before rivals accelerated development. Recent McLaren upgrades have narrowed the on-track gap, enabling Lando Norris to claim consecutive victories, while Ferrari and Red Bull continue closing performance deficits through chassis and power-unit work. Cost-cap limits have slowed Mercedes’ response rate compared with rivals. Ferrari and McLaren retain realistic paths to challenge if they sustain momentum, exploit remaining upgrade windows, or benefit from Mercedes reliability issues or grid penalties in the second half of the 24-race calendar.
