Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might” leads the 2026 VMA Best R&B field with the strongest market-implied odds, reflecting its chart dominance as a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 debut, the success of his album *The Romantic*, and his status as the year’s top male nominee overall. Kehlani’s “Folded” follows as a credible contender on the strength of its prior Grammy wins for Best R&B Performance and Song plus sustained critical and fan engagement. Justin Bieber’s “YUKON,” the Chris Brown entry, and the collaborative tracks from Dave & Tems and Mariah the Scientist with Kali Uchis round out a tightly contested slate where recent streaming data, radio airplay, and industry narrative around veteran comebacks versus emerging R&B voices create the current balance. The Sept. 27 ceremony remains the decisive near-term catalyst.
