US Dollar Index (DXY) traded in a tight 98.5–99.7 range during the week of August 24, 2026, reflecting mixed signals from softer labor and consumer data alongside persistent inflation readings. July PCE came in at 3.7% year-over-year, above consensus, while Conference Board consumer confidence fell to 89.4; these prints tempered September Fed rate-hike odds to around 35–40% even as officials at Jackson Hole signaled vigilance on price stability. Treasury yields eased modestly on expanded long-bond buybacks, reducing one support for the dollar, while broader fiscal concerns and sticky core inflation kept the policy path uncertain. Traders focused on Chair Kevin Warsh’s August 28 speech for any shift in the reaction function, with DXY closing near 99.7 amid range-bound positioning ahead of further economic releases.
