Caitlin Clark and Alyssa Thomas remain locked in a near-dead heat for the 2026 WNBA assists per game title, both averaging 8.3 APG through late August with Clark holding a narrow edge in total assists (290) across 35 games. Clark’s combination of elite scoring volume (22.1 PPG) and playmaking has driven consistent high-assist outputs in recent contests, including multiple 10-assist games, while Thomas leverages her veteran efficiency and primary facilitator role with the Mercury to stay within striking distance. Jordin Canada (7.4 APG) and the rest of the field trail by meaningful margins in both rate and cumulative production, with limited regular-season games remaining heightening the impact of any late surges or minor injuries. Trader consensus reflects this statistical proximity alongside Clark’s broader offensive impact.
