**Early trader sentiment for the 2027 Best Actor nominations centers on Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Tom Cruise in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger.** These high-profile star vehicles, with major studio backing and directors known for awards success, dominate early prediction markets and industry forecasts as of August 2026. Damon benefits from the film’s scale and ensemble while Cruise carries a compelling “overdue” narrative after multiple prior nominations. Supporting contenders like Andrew Scott, John Malkovich, Ryan Gosling, and Sebastian Stan draw attention from smaller or festival-bound projects. With eligibility closing December 31, 2026, and nominations announced January 21, 2027, upcoming fall premieres, reviews, and box-office tracking will shape momentum ahead of guild and precursor awards.
