The Chiefs enter 2026 as the consensus stronger side in the AFC West despite finishing 6-11 in 2025 after Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending knee injury and the team endured numerous close losses. Mahomes is expected to return for Week 1, with Eric Bieniemy back as offensive coordinator and additions such as Kenneth Walker III aimed at stabilizing the run game and complementing the passing attack. The Raiders, coming off a 3-14 campaign, are in transition under new head coach Klint Kubiak with veteran Kirk Cousins and rookie Fernando Mendoza sharing quarterback duties in a rebuilding effort projected for roughly six wins. The two teams meet in Week 4 at Las Vegas and Week 18 in Kansas City, where the Chiefs’ superior roster depth, quarterback stability, and historical edge over the division rival underpin the 55.5% implied probability they claim the season series outright.
