The Parti Québécois maintains its position as the clear frontrunner in seat projections for the October 5, 2026, Quebec general election, driven by steady polling around 30% support concentrated among francophone voters. This edge stems from first-past-the-post mechanics that amplify regional strengths amid a fragmented federalist vote split between the Coalition Avenir Québec under new leader Christine Fréchette and the Quebec Liberal Party led by Charles Milliard. Recent Léger surveys from mid-to-late August show the CAQ rising to tie the Liberals at 23%, while the Conservatives reach 16% and Québec solidaire falls to 7%, reflecting voter consolidation ahead of the campaign launch. Trader consensus reflects these trends, with the PQ favored to secure the most seats or a majority despite the sovereignty referendum debate and uncertainty over final vote shifts.
