Goldman Sachs holds the strongest market-implied position as OpenAI’s prospective lead underwriter, reflecting its recent appointment as lead-left bookrunner on the SpaceX IPO and established dominance in large-scale technology listings. Both Goldman and Morgan Stanley have advised OpenAI since its confidential S-1 filing in May 2026 and maintain parallel roles for rival Anthropic, with separate deal teams created to manage conflicts. Recent reports of a possible 2027 IPO delay due to market volatility have not altered the relative positioning. Traders assign lower probabilities to other banks because credible reporting indicates they hold only supporting syndicate roles rather than primary bookrunner status. Key upcoming catalysts include any formal lead designation in updated filings or public disclosures from OpenAI.

If no IPO occurs by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or OpenAI completes an initial public offering without a designated lead underwriter, this market will resolve to “Other.”
If multiple banks are identified as lead underwriters, this market will resolve according to the primary lead underwriter. If the hierarchy between them is unclear, this market will resolve once it is conclusively evident which bank is the primary lead underwriter, for example, through the order in which the banks are listed in the underwriting section of OpenAI's final initial public offering prospectus, once released.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official disclosures from OpenAI. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
