Recent drone attacks on September 10, 2026, originating from Iraq prompted Saudi Arabia to shut its East-West pipeline as a precautionary measure on September 11, halting flows after it had been moving 4–5 million barrels per day. The 1,200 km line, with 7 million bpd nameplate capacity, serves as the kingdom’s primary Hormuz bypass amid regional conflict, linking eastern fields to Red Sea terminals at Yanbu. Satellite imagery confirmed fires and damage at pumping stations, with technical teams now assessing safety and repairs. This outage coincides with oil prices trading above $100 per barrel and broader supply strains, though no restart timeline or lost-volume estimate has been disclosed. Traders are monitoring Saudi Energy Ministry updates and any escalation in Iraq-linked militancy for resolution signals.

This market will resolve to “Yes” if the government of Saudi Arabia announces that the East-West oil pipeline is operational or no longer shut down between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.
A qualifying announcement must express that the pipeline is presently operating; operation at partial or reduced capacity qualifies.
Announcements that attribute such a claim to third parties, state that the pipeline will or may operate in the future, describe work underway to restore operation, or frame resumption as expected, planned, or conditional, will not qualify.
Once a qualifying announcement is made, this market will resolve to “Yes,” regardless of any subsequent contradictory statements, or alternative information from other sources.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Saudi Arabia.
