This market will resolve to "Yes" if Vladimir Putin meets with Volodymyr Zelenskyy between this market's creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". An exchange of words, handshake, direct conversation, or other clear personal interaction between the named individuals will qualify as a meeting. Merely standing in proximity, making eye contact, or being present in the same room or event without direct interaction will not qualify. A meeting is defined as any encounter where both Zelenskyy and Putin are present and interact with each other in person. The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.**Ongoing military advances by Russian forces and stalled diplomatic efforts continue to drive the strong trader consensus against a Putin-Zelenskyy meeting by the end of 2026.** As of late August 2026, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described Ukraine-Russia peace talks as on a “deep pause,” with no new proposals emerging and the last U.S.-mediated trilateral discussions occurring in February. Putin has repeatedly stated that direct leader engagement serves no purpose until experts first reach long-term agreements, a position reinforced after Zelenskyy’s June open letter proposing face-to-face talks. Russia maintains its core demand for Ukrainian withdrawal from remaining portions of Donetsk and other territorial concessions, conditions Kyiv has consistently rejected while Ukrainian officials note only limited technical discussions may occur in September. These dynamics—continued frontline operations, mutual insistence on incompatible preconditions, and the absence of scheduled summits or breakthroughs—underpin the 95% implied probability that no meeting will take place before the market’s December 31, 2026 resolution date. Historical precedent shows the two leaders have not met in person since 2019, and recent signals indicate both sides prioritize battlefield or preparatory steps over high-level diplomacy in the near term.
