Dune: Part Three holds a narrow lead in the early Oscars 2027 Best Visual Effects market at 52.5% implied probability, while a broad field of contenders clusters around 50%, reflecting the highly uncertain landscape more than a year before nominations. Traders are pricing in the Dune franchise’s established VFX pedigree and expected scale, yet the even odds on numerous other titles signal that no clear frontrunner has emerged amid dozens of 2026 releases still in production or post-production. Key differentiators include studio resources, director-VFX supervisor track records, and whether projects rely on groundbreaking original effects work versus franchise extensions. Longshots such as Project Hail Mary (25.5%) and The Odyssey (12.0%) trail due to limited confirmed details and release timing. Momentum will likely shift once late-2026 trailers, test footage, and guild precursors provide concrete signals ahead of the March 2027 ceremony.
