This market will resolve to "Yes" if Tristan Buckmaster files a lawsuit against OpenAI, or any of its subsidiaries, executives, or employees, by 11:59 PM ET of the date specified in the title. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A lawsuit in which Tristan Buckmaster is a named plaintiff, alone or jointly with others, will qualify. An announcement of intent to sue or a legal threat will not qualify; a lawsuit must actually be filed in court. The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the relevant court. However, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Tristan Buckmaster’s public accusations against OpenAI over disputed Navier-Stokes research form the main driver of trader sentiment in this market. The NYU mathematician and Anthropic collaborator Levent Alpöge allege their year-long AI-assisted work on fluid-dynamics proofs, including private Codex drafts, reached OpenAI researchers shortly before the lab announced a parallel breakthrough using massive compute on a similar technical route. Buckmaster claims pressure to exclude the Anthropic co-author and implicit career threats during calls with Sébastien Bubeck, raising questions about data leakage into large language model training sets and academic credit in AI math. OpenAI and Sam Altman have denied any influence or misconduct, highlighting competitive tensions between labs. With implied probabilities for a lawsuit by year-end at just 18–21 percent, traders appear to view formal legal action as unlikely without further escalation or new evidence.
