This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed Designated Contract Market (DCM) self-certifies sports-related event-based contracts with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. The primary resolution source will be official information released by the CFTC or the respective DCM; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.CFTC’s permissive stance on Regulation 40.2 self-certifications, reinforced by the March and July 2026 advisories requiring detailed compliance analysis rather than broad templates, remains the main catalyst keeping odds elevated for additional DCMs. CME Group and Kalshi have already listed numerous sports event contracts on aggregate outcomes such as final scores and season metrics, while Polymarket US recently self-certified NFL participation filings before withdrawing two specific ones amid scrutiny over injury-adjacent terms. Competitive pressure from high-volume sports trading, federal preemption of state gaming rules, and CFTC Chair emphasis on league data partnerships for manipulation prevention continue to incentivize filings. Key catalysts ahead include potential responses to the June proposed rulemaking and any new self-certifications before year-end.
