The first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections on September 14 will allocate 40 seats through party-list proportional representation alongside 32 district and eight sectoral seats, creating a fragmented contest among 13 accredited Regional Parliamentary Political Parties. BFP has drawn significant momentum from high-profile defections of UBJP-aligned local officials and legislators in recent months, including Cotabato City Mayor Bruce Matabalao and Maguindanao del Sur Rep. Esmael Mangudadatu, while UBJP retains core MILF-linked support and Comelec designation as dominant majority party. Security deployments, red alerts in Lanao del Sur, and isolated incidents underscore ongoing risks, yet Comelec reports full readiness with paraphernalia deployed. The August 27 multi-party debate and recent selection of non-Moro indigenous representatives highlight inclusive dynamics that could influence final vote shares among the closely matched contenders.
