Parliamentary elections to elect the Parliament of the Cook Islands are scheduled to take place on August 12, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Cook Islands following the 2026 Cook Islands parliamentary elections. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially sworn in. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Cook Islands; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Mark Brown's commanding 96% market position reflects his Cook Islands Party's decisive performance in the 12 August 2026 general election, securing an outright majority of seats plus support from multiple independents for a supermajority in the 24-member parliament. The incumbent, first elected to the role in 2020 and seeking a second full term, benefited from voter emphasis on political stability and domestic priorities such as cost-of-living pressures, enabling the CIP to outperform fragmented opposition parties. The Democratic Party was eliminated from parliament, while the Cook Islands United Party gained limited ground. Potential shifts remain possible only through unresolved vote-count challenges, successful electoral petitions in tight constituencies, or an unforeseen leadership transition within the governing caucus before formal confirmation of the next government.
