Early buzz for the 2027 Best Actor nominations centers on Christopher Nolan’s *The Odyssey* and Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s *Digger*, with Matt Damon and Tom Cruise emerging as frontrunners in trader consensus. Damon benefits from Nolan’s recent awards momentum following *Oppenheimer*, strong early tracking for the tentpole, and a long-overdue acting win narrative. Cruise’s performance in the star-driven drama positions him for similar overdue recognition. Supporting contenders like Andrew Scott, John Malkovich, and Ryan Gosling in *Project Hail Mary* reflect broader ensemble strength in awards-leaning studio films. With major releases still months away and festival premieres ahead in fall 2026, guild precursors and critic response will likely shift momentum before nominations in January 2027.
