Early trader consensus for 2027 Best Actor nominations centers on Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Tom Cruise in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger, reflecting the prestige of these fall releases and long-standing narratives around overdue wins. Damon benefits from the film’s anticipated scale and Nolan’s strong Academy track record, while Cruise’s turn in a dramatic, director-driven project has generated significant industry discussion. Supporting momentum appears for Andrew Scott, John Malkovich in Wild Horse Nine, and Ryan Gosling in Project Hail Mary, though positions remain fluid ahead of the September festival circuit. Key upcoming catalysts include Venice, Telluride, and Toronto premieres, which will shape guild and critics’ awards trajectories before nominations voting in January 2027.
