On August 20, 2026, Lee hosted Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Seoul, where both sides explicitly referenced the prior Xi-Lee summits and voiced support for continued engagement ahead of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027. They agreed to maintain close coordination on Korean Peninsula issues and regional matters, with Wang conveying Xi’s greetings. Lee expressed interest in using the November 2026 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Shenzhen as a venue to advance the strategic cooperative partnership. The upcoming APEC gathering in November serves as the most immediate scheduled opportunity for another Xi-Lee meeting, alongside broader diplomatic momentum focused on trade, supply chains, and North Korea-related dialogue. No other high-level bilateral summits have been announced in the immediate term.
