Recent July CPI data cooling to 0.5% year-on-year, below expectations, has anchored trader focus on subdued domestic demand, persistent food deflation from ample pork supplies, and easing non-food and energy contributions after earlier commodity pressures. Weak consumption, property-sector drag, and manufacturing overcapacity continue to limit broad price pressures heading into August, while official emphasis on supply stability and pro-consumption measures offers only modest upside potential before the September release. These offsetting forces sustain the near-even split between the 0.5-0.6% and 0.7-0.8% bands, with separation likely to emerge from August-specific seasonal patterns, any fresh policy signals, or shifts in global energy and food costs.
