PL holds a decisive edge in the race for the largest bloc in Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies because it enters the October 4 contest as the incumbent with the biggest current caucus, extensive state-level infrastructure, and effective candidate recruitment tied to the right-wing movement. The party’s position has been reinforced by recent presidential polling that shows Flávio Bolsonaro closing sharply on incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, producing near-ties or small runoff advantages that energize PL’s base and volunteer networks. UPB, the newly registered center-right federation of União Brasil and Progressistas, trails as the main alternative with a combined seat total near 100 but faces greater internal fragmentation and competition from other centrão groups. High incumbent re-election rates and the proportional open-list system further favor parties that already possess deep organizational reach, keeping smaller parties marginal.
