This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a case of Screwworm in any livestock animal in a state of the United States other than Texas confirmed between market creation and the specified date at 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Any laboratory-confirmed screwworm infection identified within a U.S. state other than Texas will qualify, regardless of where exposure or symptom onset occurred. The primary resolution source for this market will be official government information (e.g., the CDC or USDA); however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting will also suffice.USDA APHIS surveillance has confirmed roughly 46-47 New World screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax) animal cases since the first June 2026 detection in Zavala County, Texas, with the vast majority in Texas livestock and only one companion-animal case in New Mexico. No livestock detections have occurred outside Texas as of late August, reflecting effective containment through 20-km infested zones, movement quarantines across 23 Texas counties, expanded trap networks, drone and trail-camera monitoring, and sterile-fly releases. The parasite’s northward spread from Mexico has slowed under these measures, though ongoing wound infestations in cattle, sheep, and goats within Texas sustain trader focus on whether new livestock cases appear beyond state lines before any market resolution date. Updated USDA dashboards and state reports provide the key near-term data releases.
