Recent polling averages position Die Linke as the frontrunner for third place in the September 20, 2026 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Landtag election, consistently showing 11-12% support ahead of the CDU at 9-10%, while the AfD leads overall near 36% and the SPD holds second near 29%. This gap has remained stable across INSA and Infratest dimap surveys through mid-August, reflecting Linke's established regional base and the CDU's weaker performance in the east German state. Smaller parties such as the Grüne, BSW, and FDP trail further back, limiting their prospects for a top-three finish amid the five-percent electoral threshold. Trader consensus aligns with these trends, though the short campaign window leaves room for late shifts in turnout or voter movement among smaller parties.
