Temporary, interim, or placeholder Mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Chen Ting-fei secured the DPP nomination after prevailing in a January 2026 polling primary over Lin Chun-hsien, positioning her as the clear frontrunner in this deep-green stronghold where the party has held the mayoralty since Tainan became a special municipality. Hsieh Lung-chieh, the KMT nominee since December 2025 and a repeat challenger who came within five points in 2022, trails significantly in available surveys, though some early-year polls showed a narrower gap tied to local dissatisfaction over infrastructure and flooding.
