With no dominant frontrunner in the Best Multiplayer category at The Game Awards on December 10, trader sentiment reflects a wide-open race driven by recent launches, previews, and anticipated multiplayer depth. Marathon leads early momentum after its March 2026 release as a Bungie extraction shooter, earning rising review scores and strong cross-platform retention that position it as the title to beat in a genre historically favoring shooters. Gears of War: E-Day trails closely on campaign-integrated co-op hype and gamescom exposure, while Subnautica 2, Ghost of Yotei: Legends, and Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance gain from co-op innovations and guild signals. Factors like post-launch updates, beta feedback, and late-year releases through fall will likely reshape consensus before voting closes.
