This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump publicly and unequivocally announces that he is removing Lisa Cook as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, or takes formal action toward doing so, such as issuing a directive or formal request, between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Statements which are contingent (e.g. “Cook must step down”), statements of intent (e.g.“I am planning to fire Cook) or other informal statements which are not unequivocal will not qualify. If Lisa Cook resigns or otherwise formally departs her role as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors prior to a qualifying action, this market will immediately resolve to "No". The resolution source will be official information from Donald Trump; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. **President Trump first attempted to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook on August 25, 2025, citing mortgage fraud allegations from FHFA Director Bill Pulte over two properties designated as primary residences.** Cook denied any intentional misconduct, called the claims a pretext tied to monetary policy disagreements, and sued to block the action. In a June 29, 2026, 5-4 Supreme Court ruling, Chief Justice Roberts held that while governors may be removed “for cause” under the Federal Reserve Act, the initial effort lacked required procedural protections such as notice and an opportunity to respond, preserving Cook’s position for now while litigation continues. In early August 2026 the administration restarted the process with formal notice and a 21-day response window; Cook’s counsel replied on August 26, 2026, reiterating that any error was inadvertent and produced no improper loan benefit. The case tests the scope of presidential authority over the Fed’s staggered 14-year terms and remains subject to further court review, creating ongoing uncertainty around removal timing and viability.
