Recent polls ahead of Berlin’s September 20 state election show the CDU holding a consistent though narrow edge over the Greens, typically 18-20% to 16-17%, supporting traders’ 77% implied probability that the CDU will receive more votes. The CDU-SPD governing coalition has faced declining support since 2023, with Governing Mayor Kai Wegner stepping aside amid criticism of crisis management, yet CDU candidate Stefan Evers maintains a polling lead over the Greens’ Werner Graf. The Left leads several surveys at 19-22%, AfD sits near 17-18%, and the SPD trails at 12-15%, underscoring a fragmented contest where three-party coalitions appear necessary for government formation. These trends have remained stable in August fieldwork from Forsa, INSA, and Infratest dimap, with limited movement in the CDU-Greens gap despite the tight overall race.
