Lula maintains a commanding lead in Maranhão for first place in the October 2026 first round, with recent Quaest polling showing 58% support against 20% for Flávio Bolsonaro and single digits or less for all other candidates. This positioning reflects entrenched regional voting patterns in the Northeast, where the incumbent's coalition-building with center parties and emphasis on social programs have sustained broad backing among local voters. Most respondents in the latest survey described their preferences as firm, limiting volatility ahead of the vote. Realistic challenges remain narrow and would likely require major late developments such as significant shifts in alliances, turnout surges among opposition bases, or unforeseen national events that erode Lula's structural advantages in the state. Trader consensus pricing aligns closely with these polling trends.
