**Strong early- and mid-season activity has driven the 1250+ outcome to 86.5% implied probability.** NOAA Storm Prediction Center preliminary counts through late August already total 1,391 tornadoes—well above the long-term annual pace—with standout months in March (211), April (306), and June (399). Illinois alone has set a state record with over 240 preliminary reports, reflecting a northward-shifted jet stream and favorable convective patterns across the Midwest and Great Lakes that boosted totals beyond climatological norms. Remaining months typically add 150–300 confirmed tornadoes, making a sub-1,250 finish highly unlikely absent an unprecedented late-year lull. Traders are weighting official SPC data and historical analogs, with final NCEI-verified counts expected in 2027.
