Hsu Hsin-ying holds a dominant position as the KMT nominee in the November 2026 Hsinchu County magistrate race, reflecting strong trader consensus around her path to victory. She secured the nomination in a contentious March primary against Deputy Magistrate Chen Chien-hsien, prevailing after polls weighed heavily in the selection process despite internal party disputes. The DPP’s June nomination of Zhubei Mayor Cheng Chao-fang, the strongest available challenger, has not closed the gap, as an August poll showed Hsu ahead 41.4%–38.1% in a head-to-head matchup and maintaining the lead even in a three-way scenario. Hsu benefits from consolidated pan-blue support, including among some TPP voters, while Cheng’s appeal remains concentrated among DPP backers. Potential independent bids or lingering blue-white frictions in related local races have yet to shift the dynamics enough to threaten the frontrunner. Minor candidates such as Lin Szu-ming and Chen Chien-hsien register negligible support in current assessments.
