Incumbent APC Governor Umar Namadi secured unopposed consensus nomination from party stakeholders across all 27 local government areas in May 2026, following earlier endorsements by elders and the state executive. His position benefits from control of state structures, ongoing infrastructure and development projects under the Greater Jigawa Agenda, and alignment with the federal APC administration. In contrast, PDP candidate Mustapha Sule Lamido, son of a former governor and the party's 2023 nominee, received his own consensus affirmation in May and August 2026 but faces a fragmented opposition, including ADC contender Sabo Nakudu, with the PDP out of power in the state since 2015. Trader consensus reflected in current pricing assigns Namadi dominant probability while assigning minimal implied likelihood to challengers ahead of the February 2027 vote.

This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2027 Jigawa State gubernatorial election. Any interim, acting, or caretaker Governor will not qualify.
If the results are not known definitively by October 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
To be elected Governor, a candidate must satisfy the requirements under Nigerian law, including receiving the highest number of votes cast and the constitutionally required geographic distribution of votes. If no candidate has been officially elected by the resolution deadline, this market will resolve to "Other".
This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results published by Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Nigerian government sources.
