Vjosa Osmani's presidential term concluded on April 4, 2026. Since that date the duties of President of Kosovo have been exercised on an acting basis by the President of the Assembly of Kosovo, pending the election of a new President by the Assembly. This market will resolve to the next individual who begins a full, non-acting term as President of Kosovo after April 4, 2026. To count for resolution, the individual must be elected President by the Assembly of Kosovo and take the presidential oath before the Assembly. Serving as acting, interim, or caretaker President alone will not count toward the resolution of this market, regardless of any change in who exercises those duties. If no such President takes office by April 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the Assembly of Kosovo and the Office of the President of Kosovo; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Recent negotiations between Vetëvendosje and the Democratic League of Kosovo have centered on identifying a consensus candidate to break the prolonged institutional deadlock that followed Vjosa Osmani’s term ending in April 2026. Multiple snap parliamentary elections, including the June vote won by Vetëvendosje without a clear majority, have delayed assembly constitution and heightened pressure for agreement before further dissolution risks arise. Deputy leader Glauk Konjufca expressed optimism on August 26 that upcoming talks with LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku will produce concrete names, while external proposals such as William Walker’s suggestion of Faton Bislimi underscore the search for a unifying figure. The requirement for a two-thirds majority in initial voting rounds has kept trader probabilities fragmented across numerous contenders, with developments hinging on cross-party compromise rather than any single frontrunner.
