Recent Quaest and Real Time Big Data surveys in Rio Grande do Sul show Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) leading or tied with incumbent President Lula (PT) in first-round presidential preferences, with the senator at 34-40% and Lula at 28-39% amid 18% undecideds. This regional edge for the opposition candidate, reflecting higher Lula government disapproval in the South, underpins trader consensus that Flávio will finish first in the October 4 vote there. Minor candidates including Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, Renan Santos, Augusto Cury, and Pablo Marçal register low single digits or less, with structural barriers such as limited ballot access and regional support keeping their implied probabilities near zero. Scheduled free electoral broadcasts and any late polling shifts remain the main variables ahead of election day.
