Gubernatorial elections are currently scheduled to be held in Kagawa on August 30, 2026. This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2026 Kagawa gubernatorial elections. Any interim or caretaker Governor will not qualify. If the results are not known definitively by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". If no candidate reaches the legally required number of votes to win the election, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by government sources of Kagawa and Japan, including the Kagawa Prefecture Election Management Committee (https://www.pref.kagawa.lg.jp/senkyoi/index.html).Toyohito Ikeda holds a commanding position in the Kagawa gubernatorial race as the incumbent seeking a second term, backed by endorsements from five major parties including the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, the Democratic Party for the People, and others. This broad coalition support, combined with a fragmented field of three challengers—Fumihiko Senoo, Kenichi Tanabe (backed by the Japanese Communist Party), and Katsunori Sone—has limited opposition consolidation ahead of the August 30 vote. Trader consensus reflects the structural advantages of incumbency and divided votes in Japanese prefectural contests, with limited recent developments or scandals altering the dynamics. A late-breaking controversy, unusually high challenger turnout, or unexpected opposition coordination remain the primary scenarios that could narrow the margin.
