Princess Faku, the incumbent ANC mayor of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality since 2023, leads market pricing at 70.5% ahead of South Africa’s November 2026 local government elections. She secured re-election as Dr WB Rubusana regional ANC chair uncontested in December 2025, positioning her as the party’s frontrunner for nomination among shortlisted candidates that also include Nocawe Mafu, Simphiwe Dzengwa, and Ncedo Kumbaca. The ANC retains a dominant position in the metro, though opposition parties have named contenders including UDM’s Nqabayomzi Kwankwa and MK Party’s Mzwandile Vaaiboom. Trader consensus reflects Faku’s institutional advantages within the governing party and limited recent shifts from ongoing probes or factional dynamics that could alter the outcome before polling.
