This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Romania by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Romania's prolonged political crisis since the May 2026 no-confidence vote ousting Ilie Bolojan continues to shape trader positioning, with President Nicușor Dan scheduled to resume party consultations on September 1 aimed at securing a parliamentary majority for a new cabinet. Alexandru Nazare leads as current Finance Minister with continuity credentials in fiscal management and EU relations, though recent reporting indicates he was sidelined from shortlists due to ties to prior austerity measures. Eugen Tomac, a prior failed nominee and presidential advisor, ranks second amid renewed coalition talks involving PSD, PNL, USR, and UDMR. Market prices reflect the narrow path to confirmation for any candidate, risks of further failed votes triggering early elections, and uncertainty over whether a political or technocratic government emerges before the 2028 parliamentary vote.
